Solar Power

Solar Power is one of 8 ways to produce renewable energy. You can produce energy from Bio fuel, Biomass, Geothermal, Hydro power, Tidal power, Wave power, Wind power and Solar power. Both solar power and wind power are intermittent energy; nevertheless it will always be there compared to non renewable resources such as oil. Shell Oil predicts that by 2050, over 60% of electricity will be generated by non-fossil sources such as solar power. The use of solar power as a renewable supply of energy has been around from the past century, and still people all over the world are discussing how they can improve on this natural renewable source of energy that is completely free. With the current state of the world and the ever rising cost of imported oils, not to mention home energy bills rocketing on a yearly basis, people are starting to think about using alternative sources of energy for their daily activities.

Solar Heating

In the UK we receive enough sunshine to provide up to 70% of our annual household hot water needs making solar heating the obvious choice and the way forward. One of the most common uses of solar energy is to heat water to create hot water. The solar heating method can use one of two options, a submissive solar energy, where a tank full of water is heated by leaving it outside in the direct sun or by using solar panels with a heat transition fluid. The transfer fluid runs through a tube down the side of the solar panel. The procedure of water heating in a tank via this method is extremely simple.

A Solar heating system uses heat from the sun to work alongside your conventional water heater. The technology has developed well and now can be used to power an array of various appliances. It works using three main elements. Firstly for solar heating, solar panels or accumulators are fixed to your rooftop or the side of your building. These came in two different types = flat place systems which comprise of a large transformer plate which uses its transparent cover to collect the suns thermal energy, alternatively there is the evacuated tube system which comprises of glass tubes which contain absorber plates which feed into a system which then conveys the heated liquid.

Another type of heating system is the heat transfer or heating control system which uses collected heat to heat water. And finally is the hot water solar power system which keeps the water heater and then supplies it to the user later in the day. Solar heating operates in two ways, the first being it can heat water which in turn heats buildings, your home and swimming pool. The second being it heats spaces including your home, greenhouse and even your car. All methods of solar heating are proven to save money as solar energy itself is free, with an endless supply available and it is of course environmentally friendly.

Heating Control - Photovoltaic PV System

Both wind power and solar power are intermittent energy sources, this means all available production, must be taken when it is available and stored or transferred over transmission lines, to where it can be used. Photovoltaic solar electricity systems or ‘PV’ systems have recently captured a lot of interest as the system components have become reliably stronger and more advanced with capability. This photovoltaic PV system is suitable for domestic, commercial, agricultural, public, and field installed heating applications. On average a domestic solar heating control system supplies you with around one third of your hot water requirements a year. It reduces C02 emissions by approximately 350kg a year and save the average household around £40.00 a year on water! There are a number of factors however that need to be considered before a photovoltaic PV system can be installed including the size of the south facing roof, budget and type of existing water heating system. We will provide you with a competent assessor who will look at your situation and decide the best way to configure a system that will give you the ultimate water heating control.
